Before we get started, let me ask you a simple question: what’s your idea of pain? When in pain, it seems like all the colors are fading out. There’s no zeal and energy in your days. You might not even wish to get out of your bed. But, would you believe me if I told you that pain is a tool Impactioners use for personal growth?
Have you ever went through those days when you constantly felt out of energy and completely drained? We all go through those seasons in our lives when things seem to go out of control. There’s nothing but confusion, chaos, and mess that surrounds us during those moments of our lives. Majority of the people get the idea of pain completely wrong.
The belief of the majority of the people goes like this: pain disappears when one tries to look at the other side. And here’s where they get it wrong. Yes, when you focus on the light, the dark temporarily fades out. But ignoring the dark is avoiding growth. If you won’t work on the dark, it will eventually overtake any light.
Ignore the dark for a little while and you will temporarily enjoy the light. Ignore it for a little longer and the dark will start echoing a little louder than before. Practice ignorance for even more time and the pain shall turn even darker than it seemed before. And this will set the seasons of your life on repeat. The cycle never ends. Pain never seems to fade out and growth never occurs. Most of the people miss out on realizing this simple truth about pain and growth. I’m glad you took your time off and decided to read this blog. Your interest shows that you’re not going to be one of those people.
#1. Embrace pain for it deepens your levels of understanding
Let me share with you two of my favorite quotes:
“Grief can be the garden of compassion. If you keep your heart open through everything, your pain can become your greatest ally in your life’s search for love and wisdom.”
“Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.”
#2. Embrace pain for it silents the factor that resists your success
Do you know what avoids you from achieving success in any task? Any idea of what resists your growth? It’s the ego. When in pain, your ego melts down and you become more of a humble being.
#3. Embrace pain for it transforms you into a person beautiful than before
You may not agree to this point but personally, I do strongly believe this to be the truth. Let me be honest with you – what transformed me into a better person is a heartbreak that I went through around 4 years ago. It may sound a little crazy to you but I believe that the pain of heartbreak that I experienced has made me a person better than I was before. Won’t go much in depth over here, let’s proceed to the fourth reason why you should embrace pain.
#4. Embrace pain for it helps you turn your wounds into wisdom
I’ve been a great believer in the fact that life happens not to you but for you. Every experience we go through has a lesson to teach us. We all have heard this common saying: “let the pain make you better, not bitter.” But how not to let the pain make you bitter? Yes, by embracing the pain and learning what it has got to teach you.
#5. Embrace pain for it sets you on the path of personal growth
Let me quote Robin here:
Sucess in the outside world begins with success in the woorld inside of you.
Come to think about it: if you can accept and welcome all the good and positive things into your life without question, why can’t you embrace pain? Instead of fearing pain so much, why not try to embrace it and learn from it.
The idea of pain is simple: you run away from it and it keeps getting darker. You try to embrace it and learn from it, it helps you grow and evolve.
“There’s power in the pain, realised by those who are brave enough to embrace.
There’s light hidden in dark, only visible to the one who learns to peep through it.”
